Gemstones are held by shared prongs connecting adjacent stones instead of each gemstone having its own prongs. This enhances light reflection but offers less security than other settings.

Also known as French pavé, this setting uses tiny, partially split metal beads to secure the gemstones, creating a delicate fishtail appearance. It allows diamonds to sit low in the metal, enhancing their brilliance.

This type of gallery features prongs (or claws) reinforced with a horizontal bar that secures the gemstone in place, creating a 'basket' effect around the gemstone.

The head of the ring is designed to sit lower on the finger, creating a sleeker and less protruding look. This is achieved by setting the gemstone closer to the band of the ring, which often makes the gallery flush with the ring band.  

The ring's band doesn't taper or split at the ends and maintains the same width, making it the most basic and common type of ring shank.

Its high density and chemical composition make it more durable than gold. It is also hypoallergenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin. However, it can lose its polish and sharp edges faster than gold, requiring regular professional polishing to stay in top condition.
