Which Precious Metal Should you Choose?
THE GOLDS VS PLATINUM VS PALLADIUM

The Classic & Traditional Gold
Yellow Gold
Yellow gold has this classic vibe that's hard to beat, especially when you're thinking about something as special as an engagement or wedding ring. Believe it or not... it's often got other alloys mixed in with a gold alloy to get the 'gold' colour we all recognise.
PROS - Classic look, versatile colors, relatively easy to work with, can be more affordable than platinum.
CONS - Softer and can scratch easily, especially in higher karats, white gold requires periodic rhodium plating to maintain its color.

Platinums Cheaper Look A LIKE
White Gold
To get the its white colour gold is mixed with additional allows like platinum, silver, manganese or palladium. It's also coated in in rhodium to help ensure it's gold tones are subdued.
PROS - White gold looks almost identical to platinum but isn't as expensive.
CONS - It's not hypoalergenic and can be more expensive than its colour counterparts depending on the additional allows mixed in with it's gold allow to create the colour.

The Cheaper and Sturdier Gold
Pink, Rose & Red Gold
Rose gold is often used to describe three different shades of gold that should be considered very different. The amount of coppy alloys present in the metal dictates how bold the pink hue. Pink gold is the lightest, followed by Rose gold and finally Red gold.
PROS - Rose gold's copper alloy is harder and cheaper than the alloys in yellow gold, making it more scratch-resistant and cheaper... it also doesn't require a rodium plating like white gold which will save you even more money.
CONS - Pink, rose or red gold is not hypoallergenic and can be a trickier colour to pair with gemstones other than diamonds.

Platinum
The choice of going platinum over gold is mostly decided on your personal budget and if it can be stretched then Platinum is often the winner over any of the gold colours due to its pros below.
PROS - Extremely durable, resistant to scratches, naturally white color, hypoallergenic, holds its value well, luxurious look.
CONS - Heavy, most expensive option, can develop a patina that requires occasional polishing.

PALADIUM
The dark horse of jewellery precious metals... and the most stubborn!
PROS - Lighter than platinum, naturally white color, good durability, often less expensive than platinum.
CONS - Can be more difficult to work with, so may not be as readily available as other metals, can sometimes be more expensive than platinum per gram.
